FRC Programs , Classes, Activities
The Family Resource Center provides programs for all ages and interests to strengthen families and individuals. The programs are presented, coordinated, sponsored, or assisted by The Family Resource Center in collaboration with school districts, churches, and various community agencies and organizations.
As One: For Couples Earn $100.00 and learn more about relationships. Moms and dads, are you an unmarried couple with a child under 3 months of age? Or are you an unmarried couple expecting a baby? If you answered "yes" to either of these questions, this class is for you! Join us to learn more about your relationship. All couples completing all 4 sessions will receive a $100.00 bank card; dinner is provided each night. Registration is required to ensure childcare, dinner and bank cards. Hello Brother, Hello Sister: Preparing Your Child for a new Sibling

ParentTalk Dinner's on us and you get to talk bout your favorite little people . . . it doesn't get any better than that! Enjoy a meal with other parents, followed by question and answer discussion about children's growth, development and behaviors. Supper is at 5:00pm; children transition to childcare after the meal and ParentTalk begins. We'll wrap up by 7:00pm. Choose the date that matches the age of your child:

Once Upon a Potty This is all the potty talk you'll ever want to hear! Parent Educator Renee Wachuta facilitates this class for parents who are thinking ahead about potty training or who are in the midst of potty training. Build a Better Teen Sometimes a little information is all you need to successfully negotiate the teen years. Phil and Carla Duket, parents of two almost-adult sons, lend their expertise to this class that encourages you as a parent to see your teen through new eyes and enjoy this period of your child's growth and development. Love and Logic for Parents of Elementary Schoolers
The popular Love and Logic series is back for anyone who has ever wondered how to motivate a child to take responsibility, learn from the consequences of their actions, or think critically about the choices they are making. Facilitated by Deb Gentine-Ebert of Project Youth. Mondays, November 9, 16, 23, 30, 2009; 6:30-8:00pm. Held at Parkview Elementary School Library, Plymouth. Family Health & Fitness Day USA Join FRC staff as we fly kites on the beach, and participate in this national health and fitness event for families. La Hora de Español! Fun Opportunity for Both Spanis & English Speaking Families Playing games is always fun; playing them in Spanish will knock your calcetins (socks) off! English and Spanish speakers can both enjoy this great play-focused learning opportunity, facilitated by Jennifer Tolman. For children ages 2-5 years accompanied by an adult. Register for one or both series. Series I: Thursdays, October 1, 8, 15, 22, 2009; 4:30-5:30pm. Series II: Thursdays, October 29, November 5, 12, 19, 2009; 4:30-5:30pm. Introduction to Martial Arts Learn some basics about Karate, Tae Kwon Do and other martial arts through demonstration and participation with Keith Kesick and friends. Martial arts are about respect, body awareness, fitness, balance and mental preparedness. For children 4 though teen with an adult.

FRC Fall Fest The frost is on the pumpkin and the hay is in the barn . . . wander over with your FRC friends to Spiekers Pumpkin Farm for the annual Fall Fest! We'll ride the wagon, pick a pumpkin and gourd, make our way through the mini-straw maze (toddler friendly) and visit barnyard residents. Wednesday, October 28 2009; 10:00-11:00am or 6:00-7:00pm. Baby Sign Sign language is a great way to add a new dimension to your baby's developing language skills, as well as stimulate your baby's busy brain. Smiles, coos, and a loud squeal have gotten your attention so far. Now you and your baby can learn some easy signs from speech therapists from Rehab Resources in this interactive class series. Sensational Toddlers Toddlers love to feel their way through the day and much of what they learn is developed through their sense of touch. Brenda Schilder of Rehab Resources explains how much your 2-4 year-olds are learning by their hands-on approach to living. Each parent/child team will make a sensory box to take home. Winter Wonderland
Winter weather may be frightful, but Winter Wonderland is always delightful! Join FRC staff and participating families to start out the season with cheer. Each session will feature crafts, music, snacks, and photo opportunities for children and families. Family or individual photos will be taken, by appointment, with or without Santa - it's your choice. Ken Pannier (Pannier Photography) and Glenn Thiesenheusen (Blue Moon Studio) donate their services for this family event. Haul out the Holly and join us for a wintery good time. You're invited to bring a new or gently used stuffed toy, which will be packed in Santa's bag for delivery to Senior Citizen friends who live alone and are on his Christmas morning visit list. Music for Tots® with the FRC Every age and stage has the ability to learn through music and movement. Donna Schwinn and Sally Haines, instructors with the Silver Lake College Music for Tots Program, give an introductory class for parents and their little ones to show you the great opportunities for fun and enhancing learning at many different levels. This one night class is open to parents and their children 0-5 years. We'll meet together and then separate into age appropriate groups for active participation with instruments and movement. Kids Nutrition Corner Classes Join Laura Graney, Registered Dietitian, for an enjoyable hour making yummy snacks that are both delicious and nutritious. Children ages 2 to 5 years accompanied by an adult will enjoy these sessions. Please choose a maximum of two sessions to allow others the opportunity to participate as well. En-deering Eats: Reindeer Treats You'll hear the prancing and pawing of each little hoof as they herd 'round the table for snacks that fuel their reindeer games. Thursday, December 10, 2009; 6:30-7:30pm. Held at FRC-Plymouth. $5.00 per family. This class is filled; waiting list is available.
My Best Friends are a Bunch of Flakes! Enjoy the flakiest, fluffiest, snowiest of days with these nutritious, winterrific treats. Tuesday, January 26. 2010; 6:30-7:30pm. Held at FRC-Sheboygan. $5.00 per family.
Programs are held at The Family Resource Centers and other Sheboygan County sites. Scholarships are available for all classes, and free on-site child-care is also available during most programs.
